Meet the Artist

I’m Pooja Nimavat Mehta, a multidisciplinary self developed artist originally from Ahmedabad, India, now based in Chicago, Illinois. My work includes decorative art, acrylic paintings, laser engravings, murals, and digital pattern designs—often inspired by South Asian culture and storytelling.

Art has been part of my life since childhood, a legacy I inherited from my father, who is also an artist and still my most honest critic. After nearly two decades away from creating, and far from my homeland for few years – I returned to art as a way to reconnect with myself and my roots. Much of my work is shaped by memories, nostalgia, spirituality, and the cultural stories that many of us in the South Asian diaspora carry with us.

This led me to shape Cadira Art & Design. Cadira—a Sanskrit word for elephant — my spirit animal, symbolizes wisdom, strength, resilience, and the inner guidance that continues to shape my creative path.

I hope my art invites you to see a piece of your own story and nostalgia within it. Let’s create that unique, unspoken connection together!

Pooja is a South Asian fine artist in Chicago, IL, creating handcrafted nostalgia-inspired decorative art, including original acrylic paintings, custom laser engravings, and digital art designs.
